This nasty little filovirus can kill up to 90% of those who have been infected with it. While later stages of the disease are quite obvious and include vomiting blood and multiple system organ failure, the early symptoms aren’t so obvious. Initial symptoms can mimic the flu or common cold and include fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, a sore throat, and nausea. While most strains of ebola are spread only by close contact with those who have been infected, the Ebola Reston strain was indeed found to be airborne! |
